What’s One Tool You’d Recommend to Any Beginner?

Starting out can be overwhelming. What’s a must-have tool for new woodworkers?

I’d start with a 6" combination square — it keeps your cuts and setups honest; use it to set your blade to 90°, transfer lines, and check fence alignment, but skip the ultra-cheap ones or at least test them with the scribe-and-flip trick (as my old boss said, “the square is your truth”).
