I had a jigsaw get a little too ambitious the other day, trying to cut through some thick plywood like it was a piece of cake. I could almost hear it grunting, ‘I can do this!’ as it faithfully buzzed away, but I ended up with more splinters than smooth edges! Anyone else have machines that think they’re more powerful than they really are?
I’ve had that happen too! When I was trying to cut through some thick oak last summer, I found that running a slower speed with the jigsaw helped reduce splintering a ton. Just remember, sometimes it’s better to let the tool do its thing instead of pushing it too hard.
I’ve had my jigsaw pull some similar stunts! Sometimes switching to a finer tooth blade helps a ton with those splinter-prone cuts. Ever tried that, @clayton_wood92?
Sounds like that jigsaw really went for it — i always keep a coarse blade for fast cuts and switch to fine tooth for those delicate jobs like thin plywood. Have you considered a scrolling saw for more control on those tricky pieces, @clayton_wood92?
