Importance of Regular Machine Calibration

I’ve been working with both CNC routers and planers for over a decade, and I can’t stress enough how crucial regular calibration is for precision. Just last week, I recalibrated a router after noticing slight inconsistencies in cut depth. It made a world of difference in the final product quality. How often do you guys check your machines, and do you have any tips for keeping them in top shape?

Regular checks are key. I’ve noticed that keeping a routine of checking the tool wear after every 5 hours of use has helped maintain consistency. But sometimes, things get overlooked if you’re busy; setting reminders really helps.

I totally get what you mean. I once let my CNC router go too long without calibration, and it felt like trying to drive a car with one wheel out of alignment.
